Nermin Zlatanovic is a Cybersecurity Specialist and IT Professional focused on building secure, resilient, and future-ready technology environments.

With over four years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity and IT operations, he brings practical expertise in network security, systems administration, security monitoring, and incident response.

As a Cybersecurity Career Ambassador with the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), he supports the mission of inspiring, engaging, and preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals through advocacy, mentorship, and community involvement.

Community & Mentorship

Nermin actively mentors aspiring professionals through the CyberSecurity Sensei mentorship program and collaborates within the Simply Cyber Community.

He maintains a dedicated home lab environment where he researches reverse engineering, command-and-control (C2) frameworks, penetration testing methodologies, SOC analysis, and cloud security architectures — continuously sharpening both defensive and offensive security skills.

Research & Professional Development

Nermin participates in bug bounty programs on HackerOne, engages in Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions including MetaCTF, and contributes to OSINT investigations with Trace Labs. His work focuses on practical vulnerability research and responsible disclosure.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity from the University of the Potomac, graduating with distinction and receiving the President’s List Award.

He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence, with research interests centered on AI security, adversarial threats, and the safe integration of emerging technologies.

Driven by a passion for technology, mentorship, and innovation, his mission is to bridge the gap between business strategy and technical security implementation — helping organizations adopt cloud and AI technologies securely while contributing to a stronger, more prepared global cybersecurity workforce.
